JOGLE 1000 miles to explore- the journey before the beginning

In just two days I will begin my adventure a cross Britain on my new but trusty bike with my little companion. JOGLE is an abbreviation of John O Groats to Lands End- A 1000 mile bike ride which we will be completing in the fleeting time of 9 days. Through our journey we will be embracing many sublime landscapes such as Loch Ness, Bonar Bridge, Fort William and Dartmoor.

This is a journey I've wanted to do for many years. I was the lucky enough to be asked to join a group of guys who were taking on this epic challenge in May 2015. This was in the October of 2014 and yet with only a short time to prepare I jumped at the chance to bike this extreme yet exciting distance. I was overwhelmed at the prospects of me being the only one from Newark but also found the invite a great honour, however so I had some better know company I thought it would be a good idea to see if one of my close friends would be up for it too. So I text Jon asking him " if someone asked you to do JOGLE, would you do it? I waited for a reply and was delighted to see the response "if you think you can put the training in for it then yes". After that encouragement I sent him a personal invite to take part in the event. I don't think he had quite realised that I was asking him to take part or what he was about to commit himself too.

To be able to ride my bike through my home town of Tavistock will be exhilarating. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new people along my journey and hopefully continue to inspire children and adults alike to do great things for themselves and for charity.

I, along with 7 others shall be cycling the length of Britain. My aim is to raise money and awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity. This charity it close to many hearts on the team as it has supported Sam through the beginnings of her battle against cancer. Sam, mother of 2 from Weston-Super-Mare has unfortunately been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is currently under going treatment for this horrible illness. We are granting Sam and her families wish to support The Brain Tumour Charity by raising awareness and fundraising with the Challenge to Cycle the length of Britain. 1,000 miles, with a bike and several friends. This great feat is also referred to as JOGLE. Sam has her hardest battle ahead and we couldn't find any better way to repay her for her dedication to the charity and to her strength through what has been a rough time. Even with the struggles of her illness she is still planning a 10 mile sponsored walk and helping to organize the 1,000 mile Cycle of Britain on behalf of the Brain Tumour Charity. I am looking forward to taking part in the event and feel honoured to be able to support such a brave women.
